Perhaps one of the London drivers could help with this.

I once bought a model of a London taxi, it is plate number E12915.

What does the 'E' stand for, I'm guessing east, but I really have no idea.

It was used to denote the vehicle could carry 5 passengers, these plates were defunct from about 1994 onwards.
