I've often thought about this little idea of mine - see what you think.

Like Blueback is in London, I'd like to start a company offering something different. A company with a distinctive livery on every car.

This would be a fleet of Hacks though, operating off the streets but with bookings aswell. All licensed to carry 1 passenger, I think the Smart would make an excellent hackney carriage.

Business people would frequent the service, and I think it would have a great potential in the cities (particularly London). I think it would be worth the likes of London's DaC or Radio Taxis or Liverpol's Mersey Cabs approaching licensing and putting this idea forward.

What do you think, could you see it working?

no it would not work buisness people take secretaries out for lunch so it needs 2 seats.

some of them like to save thier company money by sharing hotel rooms with thier secretaries.

now I would have thought you knew that?

also if Hackney they need wheelchair accessible, you wont need it but rules are rules!

what about the enviroment the current thinking among politicians is to try and get people to share their journeys and cut down on emissions ,putting on one cab per customer wont go down well with the green lobby

Just a point here

the biggest increases in our market is for big flash cars very green.

small engined smart cars with little engines are environmentaly friendly much more than a black cab carrying one

sorry to disagree but you are very wrong

i see your point but think how many black cab journey are only one customer on the buisiest night sat in most if not all areas probably 95 per cent of journeys are multiple customers where as in smart vehicles 100 per cent would be single thinking back to my last shift i did do a couple of single customers mostly people who were late for a bus but after closing time all fares were multiple unless you live in a really big city i cant see any market for these dundee is right now expierencing a large demand for six seaters as customers are trying to save money on fares even pensioners who hate high step e7,s eurobuses are starting to request them

Well I have had that idea.

We cover a mainline station and 90% of our fares are for one passenger with minimal hand lugguage so why not offer a cheaper, more environmentally friendly vehicle.

A company like ours is expected to offer 6 and 8 seaters in our fleet as well as the traditional four, so why not be able to offer a one seater option as well.

In urban areas it would make even more sense with these cars taking up less road space and being able to move more freely.

Come to London and start a Minicab company that does'nt employ non-english speaking drivers, that would be a start.

Then you could further the company into the minicab record books by employing drivers who don't ply for hire at the side of the road on a Friday or Saturday night, now that would be something different.

In fact it may be 'something worth looking forward too'

Such a shame they spent over £55K trying to challenge the livery ruling, still never mind.

This may have been an unrealistic idea, fair enough. But it is nothing to do with minicabs.

The idea was to run a fleet of Smart cars as Hackney Carriages.

I do not support Private Hire in any way, shape or form. In my opinion, PH should never be allowed to carry adverts of any sort - let alone liveries.
