it would be illegal to pickup passengers whilst displaying an expired plate as its registered as a PH with the council but with no valid plate does that not mean it cant be driven at all? nice legal conundrum, especially as my PH insurance requires it be plated.... |

Just read the T&Cs. You will find that, if they have all the correct documentation, which includes the Fee, you can carry on driving. Well it does in South Ayrshire and I believe that the DVLC works on the same principal. |

Why do council insist on putting an expiry date on the plates. We don't all we have to do is hand in the paperwork get the cab tested and keep on working |

In South Ayrshire, the Plates are for one year only and the Vehicle has to be tested before new Plates are Issued. About £170 and, of course, a check-up beforehand to make sure that everything is in order. |

About £170 and, of course, a check-up beforehand to make sure that everything is in order. So every year you get a new plate, whats the point of waisting money making new ones up, I have had mine for the last 18 years, the only time they have been off is when I change my cab |

we get a 1 year plate too, think of all that oil used to make the plastic and all the old ones clogging up landfill sites |

Yes Skippy ~ And the Meter gets checked, also the Bodywork is checked and an MOT Test. Even for 1 year old taxis. Maximum age of a Cab here is 10yo, in otherwords, a maximum of 9 sets of Plates. Your Number remains the same throughout. |
