What is the veiw on here about the issue of Rosserndale Council sending out applications to all parts of the Country. it would seem that the members of council dont seem to mind.

Do we know how far they have got yet.

Well we got there in the end.

I think what they are doing is f***ing disgusting, and they are merely concerned about raking in more and more money, and not concerned about anything else.

They should have a tick box on their application forms asking if the licensed vehicle will be predominately working within it's licensing area, and if not then not issue a license.

The officer is realy trying to change things but the members are not having it.

Then the officer should show the councillors the Berwick case and the judges advice to councils.

I'm not going to say 'councillors know best'.

Has the officer had professional legal advice/opinion? How will officers ensure that the vehicles they license will keep to the licensing by-laws/conditions if they never see them?

Or maybe this is a case of let's wait until the Law Commission publish their consultation document.

It sounds like councils are starting to compete with one another to supply licensing services but if it is legal then only a change in the law will stop it

what difference does it really make so long as the driver has a medical and CRB, insurance and the vehicle is roadworthy?
