In fact you could be talking about the same figures here if "bringing in" means takings, because after rental and fuel takings of £700 probably wouldn't leave you with much more than £300.
Thus it's possibly just the difference between 'half empty' and 'half full', no difference at all really except for optimism or pessimism.
Or perhaps the braggarts like to state takings as their income rather than what's left. In fact many of the braggards in the trade will barely be taking half of what they claim
Oh and I'm not sure why you posted this in the licensing and legal section, but to that extent Sussex could be wrong because I don't think the Edinburgh rabble tend to stray too far from the Scottish section, but I notice Skull seems to be wandering around a bit more of late
