OK, if we didn't know about the historically disreputable nature of sections of the London minicab trade, then some of the stories posted on here recently should certainly remind us of that, and surely no one would argue to the contrary. And I have no doubt that in comparison the London black cab trade is an exceptionally safe form of transport. But the interesting point is the old chestnut about the London black cab trade being instrumental in delaying minicab licensing for many years, for example, as someone once said to me: "That is why, for example, there has been no licencing of minicabs for so long in London: because the black cabs have lobbied so relentlessly against it because they don't want competition." So to the extent that that is a valid viewpoint, should the question be (to echo the LTDA's (in)famous poster question directed to the Met Police Commissioner), what have the London black cab trade got to smile about? http://www.taxi-driver.co.uk/ltda.htm http://www.ltda.co.uk/smile_big.htm |

The LTDA are the biggest problem that the London taxi trade have. Those that run try to out do each other with reams of anti LPH rhetoric. The ones that spout the most rubbish, are the ones most often voted in by the lap dogs.
Of course our friends in the PCO can see through all this, and take not a blind bit of notice of them.

And what representation has the Minicab trade got in London Ollie? I feel a hint of jealousy coming on. Unity is strength. |

A lot more than the minicab trade does.

I'm not sure what PH representation they have, but Ollie should, however I do read time and time again London cabbies moaning that the LPH get everything they want (apart from proper signage), and have a nice plush office at the PCO. So someone must be doing something right.

But then who does?

Very intresting Blobby. They are not very high profile in defending your trade, thats the first time i have heard of them. I note the forum consists mainly of 'anon' & 'guests', one in particular caught my eye, warning other drivers to be careful when touting for street work as Licensed Taxis are fitted with cctv.
Hardly endearing to the professional image you want the travelling public to believe.

The truth of the matter is that PH industry in London has allowed itself to be pushed aside by the more powerful and well established in the capital Black Cab Lobby. As posted by one of your members! Here ALEX I did'nt know you posted on there? anything you want to tell us?
'romford mincabs' sounds like TDO? Is it you?

In fact because they spend so little time on it, it surely means they are doing what they are paid for, fighting for their trade not talking about it. Perhaps the likes of the T&G cab section should take note.

Thats the first time i've ever heard of them, and that comes from an avid reader of all the journals. Now the LTDA site, well thats one to visit . . . . as i'm sure you do. |

Whats your p h forum for, tips on self defence. |
