What qualifications does a landau driver need before he can driver a landau?

Is there such a thing as a national licence for landau drivers?

What are their qualifications in order to driver a landau, or can anyone drive a landau?

What type of national licence do licensed landau drivers need before they are licensed by a licensing authority to ply for hire?

He has to do an NVQ in animal safety. he has to know how to correctly shovel horse sh*t and thirdly know how to plant roses... as for the testing of the vehicle it needs to be certified as fit for the road by a local blacksmith.... the horses need to be checked by a vet. the driver on production of two bales of hay will be issued a six-months permit.

Scarborough:

On a new driver’s application each driver is to supply the LA with a letter from a veterinary surgeon which clearly states that they have some knowledge of horse care and can identify signs of ill health which could prove harmful to the horse should it be allowed to continue to work.

Seems to be plenty of rules and regs for the horses and carriages themselves, but no so much for drivers, eg North Norfolk:

The maximum hours of working for any horse shall be six (6) hours per day and all horses shall be rested after three (3) hours for at least half an hour, during which time harnesses, shackles, bridles and other such items must be removed from the horse except for a head collar. A sufficient quantity of palatable and fresh food and water shall always be available to all animals. Food and water being contained in a proper bag or receptacle.

Good to see that the horses are treated better than the cab drivers :D

I think if any council wants to ensure no horses are used in their manor they draw up rules similar to those that B&H came up with a couple of years ago. :D

It had a "special events" plate the same as those here who have plated "exec" cars (i.e. the 02 dirty green jaguar xk 2.0d saloon) which can avoid age restrictions by having leather interiors, alloy wheels and a business plan for exec travel and airport transfers........

not sure how you MOT a pony and trap......

If it hasn't got an engine, it can't be licensed as a PH.

It's as simple as that.
