Just made an appointment to get my ph drivers badge and they said I need a letter of intent from the operator I intend to work for. Can they insist on this because I've never needed one before. It's considered a new application as my old ph badge lapsed but I still have my hc badge in force

We always do Kaz, if you are a HC plate holder you sign for the driver, if it's PH the office owner has to sign for them.

No they can't.

The license is for you, not for anyone else.

Cheers for that Sussex, I just think it's a little strange that I have to say which circuit I'll be on before I get my licence. I'll let you know how I get on but it won't be straight forward, nothing ever is

Here you can drive a PH with your HC badge but not other way round, ie no need to have PH badge if you've got HC. Looks like English councils just like raking the in cash from you.

Knowing you Ms Toots, you'll probably get it all arse about face and end up giving your licensing department a Letter of Content!!

Locally we have to either be a HC proprietor or circuit owner to sign our own renewal forms, anyone else has to be sponsored by either to say they are going to drive for them, this might be a local only thing, but it's been like that since I got my 1st badge back in the mid 80's, hth.

It doesn't say anything like that in our regulations, is there something in 1976 Act? I ask this because I'm not sure who I want to work for, I guess if I turn up with letters from all the operator circuits that I may work for they should be satisfied but then again maybe not

Thanks for the offer but I some how think if I practice I'll get the timing down somewhat, in fact so much so I may as well stay at home

Don't I need a land line for that? If a hackney could pass work to a phd that'd solve the problem
