Ive had a free BTEC course offer come to me, sent by County Council, it seems the training meets County's contract requirement

except there is no requirement on my contract to have a BTEC certificate

and on company house records the training company is listed as "dormant" (i.e. not trading) and its bank is is emptier than an empty thing on national empty day.....

can anyone be a trainer?

No they can't they have to have at least an award in Ptlls or more to the point the person presenting the course does

i rang three times using 141 first (number witheld) and there was no answer, it went onto voicemail

then i tried without dialling 141 first and the phone got answered

"well its free but funding ends in the main come the end of july....so register and we will be in touch"

"we will cover explaining your countys contracts"

ive been doing it since april 2009, its a bit late now, but how can 1 county's contract T&C's be part of a national accreditation?

Understanding contracts is a national accreditation not understanding all contracts

what caught my attention was the lack of a company name, the fact only a mobile number was on it, the emphasis on "free courses" whilst "while funding lasts" was in smaller print and the comment "your county council has agreed this traing meets their contract requirements" (but there isnt such)

it came from the county but the man mentioned on the flyer had to agree a BTEC isnt a requirement

The simple thing is if it's not a requirement of license or contract then you don't need to do it, whether it's free or otherwise. The chances are if it's only a Btec there is likely to be an NVQ attached to it to make it free but I could be wrong. Also they probably haven't set up the company until it is confirmed that they will indeed get the funding

the geezer on the mobile said the funding was due to be REDUCED, so i reckon its a fishing trip, plus he didnt answer a 141 call, but jumped on the phone when let my number show

I aint bothered what the BTEC course company (such as it is) is or isnt but should the County Council be sending me this flyer (almost as a promoter) when even stevie wonder would.....well, wonder.....

If they have a preferred supplier I'm sure they are entitled to inform you of this

It doesn't matter as I said before if you need to do it, do it while it's free otherwise don't bother unless they intend to make it a requirement in the future, then do it while it's free

as i said, they guy answered his mobile (eventuall) told me funding would end july 31st so id best get in quick, didnt say id get on a free course

the flyer should have said "other course suppliers are available"

It depends who had the flyer printed doesn't it. As I said if it's free then do it, if it isn't and you don't need it nor ever likely to then don't do it, it's not rocket science really is it
