Hi guys, really sorry to bother you all with this question but i could do with some advice Been looking on here as we have a classic car which we would like to start doing weddings with next year. After reading on here it would seem that cars used for weddings and funerals don't need to be licensed but if it was used for other jobs, school proms, anniversaries etc it would need to be licensed as a private hire vehicle. Is it actually possible to get a classic car licensed to do this sort of work or is it only newer cars that can get licensed? I notice other companies up country offering these extra services so presumably it is possible, or that they are just operating illegally and being rather open about it Thanks for your help guys Ryan |

Most councils have an age limit but they do have discresion to plate "in exceptional circumstances". I would sugest that you pay the council a visit, tell them what you would like to do and show them the car. |

We did mention that it was an old car months ago when we first enquired about it, at the time they didn't say anything that would raise suspicions and they sent through all the paperwork to get licensed as a private hire operator/driver. Its only yesterday reading on here about vehicle age limits that got me wondering whether its a case of them not having a problem with the age or if they have actually listened to a word i said to them. Im now waiting to hear back from the council with this age query. Would be a shame to have given the council my money for no reason

Sorry, I miss interpreted you post. I thought that you were saying that I said that Kernow classic had classic car insurance with added wedding cover.  I had this cover when I did just weddings. I didn't do any other work than weddings at the time.
