Letters have been sent out from our Licensing Council to all drivers notifying them that that suitable Cabs/Cars are allowed up to 12 years of age. "There will be no maximum age of first license for any licensed vehicle i.e you could bring in a 10 year old vehicle for 2 years. So, the point of this post is that if any of you are thinking of selling your 5/6/7 etc year old vehicle - then Cardiff might be your best bet. P.S. After 5 years of age.....two MOTs per annum. |

Quote: with no mileage limits either? That to me is the whole point! A six year old vehicle could have if double shifted @ 60k per annum = 360k usage and still six years to go - or a 12 year old @30k p.a, again the same usage = 360K, has got to come off of the road!! There does not seem to much sense in that policy. Quote: and is the age rule for all vehicles or just "purpose built" ? The new ruling states, and I quote " All licensed vehicles will have a maximum licensable age of 12 years".............not much sense in that one either. |

i'm only allowed on for 5 years in my area but before 2005 there was no limits for age or millage as long as your car passed a taxi test and MOT and had a 1.9 engine or above you where good to go |

No age limit in Glasgow but when replacing a vehicle, it must be done with one less than 5 years old. 2 tests/year £50.00 a time on all vehicles regardless of age, even new ones. No MOT required, Council issue exemption certificates @ £10.00/year. |

Everything has been put on hold and reverts to as was. Received a letter yesterday stating that there is a legal challenge to the proposals - from where or why I do not know. I will update when I know more. |

From the Chairman of your local Black Cab Association. ![]() The letter of notification came from the council. The challenge may very well come from an individual who has got deep pockets - we shall see. |
