| Post subject: | Hackney Fare surcharges |
Does anyone know if any council allows a surcharge for "severe weather" ? Seems unfair we have to go by meter when we have heavy snow and cant charge extra like the minicabs |

Nothing to do with waiting time. Wondering if there can be a surcharge like there is in some areas e.g. baggage, more than 4 passengers, Christmas & Bank Hol, booking fee, etc etc |

I'd have thought that the meter ticks over even when you're not moving ie stuck on a bit of snow, well it does here. So if it takes you longer to get from a to b then you'd get paid more anyway, so you want a surcharge on top of that? |

The meter only charges "waiting time" when your speed drops below something like 5 miles per hour. So if you normally drive at 30 mph and you journey takes 15 minutes the fare will be the same if you do the same journey at 10 miles an hour and it takes 45 minutes. Unfortunately those are the rules.
