Do they ask the question on the application form?

If not they don't have a policy, therefore can't defend it on appeal.

seems all our rules and regs can be questioned and overturned if a fair case can be put forward, assuming they are written down somewhere

Surely you can replace the engine in the same way you can replace parts on an engine without having to notify the Council...it's just maintenance on a bigger scale, no worse than a new Gearbox, Clutch or Cylinder head would be.!!

Surely an engine can fail at 50,000 miles as well as 200,000 miles. What's the problem?

at 50K they dont care

at 200k+ they might refuse a plate, as it could show the vehicle is past its sell by date

they sent me the regs for "age exemption" which clearly stated 200,000 miles was the maximum, end of

but it seems thats been taken out but they didnt tell me...

BUT, in age exemption/good condition/4 month plates they can de-plate a car if the engine blows up...

How the hell do they make it take an hour to do this? Mileage correction can be done in a matter of seconds through the OBDll port.

Get your engine "reconditioned" then.

roll on the LC Reforms then we won't have to waste time discussing the foibles of local councils' whims on vehicle conditions and ages.

i know how it works.....

but when tyre fitters, garages, test centres all log the mileages each time youd never keep up with it

best to buy a 3 year old car on 60k, knock it back to 10K before its 1st MOT and lose the service book, although when you buy a car any dealer can track it and see if its been dealer serviced.....bugger

I replaced the dash on my Mondeo with 300,000+ miles on it. At the first pit after that the tester said 'only 40,000 miles?', I told him about the dash change and the actual mileage was around 300k - new pit certificate shows mileage as,,,,,40,000 ! #-o
