as any one got a full email list of councils I need to ask a question over Seat Belts and tip up seats in early Metro Cabs and I would think others.

Council is trying to get driver to have seat belts were there is none a point of manufacturing, I dont think they can do it but I need to find out from other council please.

steady where you go on that, you could be seen to promoting vehicles without 1 belt per seat

anything without one belt per seat shouldnt be in service

Bolton have early cabs that do not have belts on the tip up seats. there are councils round here that have now taken age limits off.

Open to be corrected but I believe belts are not a legal requirement in a rear facing seat.

We had to have belts fitted to the tip up seats in our Metrocab before the council would plate it because it is in the vehicle condition that every seat must have a seatbelt. We fitted lap belts but I did point out to the council that although they were fitted, they had not been tested and the law did not require them.

I wouldn't do them all, just the ones near you.

A list of all council websites can be found here, with a nice easy map.

My point is that to put seat belts in a vehcile now would in my maind invalidate the type aprovull
It would need to be tested.

its all geting very silly

I have to agree, to fit a seatbelt that's not been tested could be very dangerous?

If a vehicle was manufactured before 2002 with rear facing seats, they are not required, and should not be retrofitted, vehciles manufactured after this date should have them as standared

I think Cheshire West & Chester council have just introduced a requirement that any vehicles with lap belts are to be phased out, the vehicle must have full seat belts.
