I have the D1 on my licence but I have no intention of doing the CPC unless I have need of it, it Does not Jeopardise your D1 entitlement that you had to pass your test D1 driving test for, it only precludes you from driving for reward until you do a CPC training course, a course so pathetic you could sleep through it and still gain it, no pass..no fail...just a daft non job creating scheme to reinforce what you learned in order to pass your D1.

I thought the CPC had been sussed and was to be kicked into the long grass by the EU who realise it's not worth a fart anyway.

My wife has done the CPC. Bus and minibus drivers have about 2 weeks left to complete the training or face an on the spot fine of £1,000. Even if you have completed the training, you still get the £1,000 fine if you do not have your training certificate on you if you are stopped. The certificate is basically another driving license sized card the same as your normal license only it is blue and not pink.

correct
you need to complete 35 hours of training then you will get your cpc card.
If you drive for hire or reward after 9th September you need it or face a fine as high as £1000.
Once issued you have to carry it on you when driving, if you leave it at home you cant drive.

Greedy Fine grabbing Barstewards....in this Age of Mobile Technology proof of having the relevant CPC is no more than a click away on any Police, VOSA or Highways authorities In car Snooping systems. Hard copy Proof seems like they are living back in the stone age, fair enough keep it on you as you should, but to threaten you with a fine of a £1000 if you don't is a tad much, I'd have thought your Drivers License would be more important a document to carry yet you don't get fined a £1000 for not carrying that with you.

Why will you lose your D1 (101) entitlement? That's Driving a Minibus under 17 seats but not for Hire or Reward and trhat shouldnt be affected..even a D1 will not be lost if you dont have a CPC..it will remain on your license until you decide you don't need it or want it at the next renewal.

It has been made clear that the D1 CPC will also be required if you have the 101 exemption. See my thread elsewhere on the matter.

You have until 14th September (or around that date) to get trained or stop driving over 8 seats. £1000 fine if you don't have the card with you, plus the operator can be fined for causing or permitting you to drive without the DCPC, plus there is a chance the vehicle could be seized.

You will not lose your D1 entitlement for not having the DCPC, but will not be able to drive without it.

The EU is to review the whole DCPC matter with trade bodies such as the CPT to iron our discrepancies, but that is likely to take a while. There is little chance the scheme will be dropped.

None of it will affect anyone's D1 entitlement. What it means is that unless you have the DCPC, you will not be able to drive anything with over 8 passenger seats.

As "the powers that be" point out, you've had 10 years warning that this was happening! It's just the matter of who and what was never made very clear, and in my view will remain unclear until some poor bugger's been nicked and the case has gone to the high court.

"The government will also be re-issuing guidance shortly to clarify the situation for drivers with grandfather rights minibus entitlements, to enable them to progress straight to the periodic training element of Driver CPC. This will considerably cut burdens on this small group. So where driving requires CPC, D1 (NFHR) and D (NFHR) licence entitlement holders will now be able to progress straight to the CPC periodic training requirement of 35 hours training per 5 years, rather than needing to take the initial licence acquisition and CPC test as well".

My italics and underline. Presumably NFHR means code 101 on the entitlement. another lack of clarity in a government press release.

Will someone with D1 with the 101 exclusion need to take the CPC if they only ever take the vehicle in for maintenance inspections?
