Hi all. New poster here!!

I am just wondering if any of you have any info on how local authorities look upon previously banned drivers?

I had a 6 month ban for totting up in 2009, all 4 lots of 3 points in a month of each other! Prior to that I had never had any points since I gained my licence in 1994.

Would this prevent me from gaining my badge? My licence is clean so to speak since I got it back in Feb 2010.

Many thanks indeed.

Ah ok. I heard that they can send it to a committee? Are they reasonable if that happens or pretty strict?

It will depend on your Council. I would sugest that you contact your licensing officer and explain the position and ask them for an oppinion of how likely they are to grant you a license. They should look at all cases on an individual basis and not have a strict code that says yes or no. Another thing that you may need to check is if you can get insurance for hire and reward. We have just renewed our policy and it does not cover drivers with more than 6 points on their license or drivers who have received a ban for various offenses.

I think if you go there and make a statement along the lines of that was then and now I'm not that sort of chap etc etc then you have half a chance.

In other words be nice, admit your previous mistakes, and ask them to give you a second chance to make a fresh start and living for your family.

They should be off your licence now, it's 5 years ago.

Thought he said 2008, it's 4 years anyway so they'll still be off.

Nope they aren't off. I have "0" points but it shows a suspension for longer. Anyway all is well I had my badges issued. Anticipated problems but they were good about it.

All SP 30s come off after 3 years from the date and time of offence not conviction, they can be removed by sending your licence to the DVLA after 4 years

They charge you for taking endorsements off Skip. An SP30 can be removed after 4 years from the date of offence, they don't count after 3 years.
