Taxi Driver Online

Ive been asked to supply transport/carriage of goods for a local firm on a regular daily basis, it pays well but it would mean me not knowing where im going till i collect the items, in effect turning up and being sent, everything will fit in my car boot, apart from the question of GIT. and seeing as the customer isnt in my LA, does "pre booked" apply? id be getting paid a sum just for turning up even if they dont need me.

so if theres no passengers involved do I need to be pre-booked?

I would think that a agreement is in place that you will turn up at said time at said place is a pre booking even if you don't know the destination until you get to the collection point.Just have this documented.

I do not see it being any different to someone saying.........turn up when you want - I want to go to the shops....I am not sure which ones! In effect you do have a booking, albeit ...flexible. I think that so long as you can show that you have had contact with them on numerous occasions i.e mobile record/correspondence then there can be no doubt.

Where/what is the problem that you see?

Are you insured jut to carry goods ? Mind you, I don't see a problem, anyone could call you to take them somewhere then just ask you to take a parcel or a packet. If the passenger chooses not to travel, that's their problem. It appears to be fairly common in this industry to do courier work as well. Nice work if you can get it.

Well im not a "common carrier" but can ask, but id take out a GIT policy if needed, the stuffs not expensive


unlike the "box" i collected and delivered when i had the vans only to find out it was a £30,000 shotgun, which few GIT insurers would cover anyway
