Does a hackney carriage driver also need a private hire operators licence to take bookings?

Cheers

No.

That was one of the easiest answers that you have had to give.

No.

Thanks!

I'm setting up on my own (at last!) - got both Hackney and Private Hire on my driver's licence. So, as well as rank work, I can advertise airport runs etc, and take bookings over my mobile phone...? No need for the Operator's Licence that Private Hire firms have? Presumably I have to keep records of bookings?

Cheers for taking the time to answer - much appreciated.

Can you answer the subsidiary question just as succinctly Sussex?

If you have a Hackney Badge, you do not need a Private Hire Badge at all unless it is for a different, Private Hire, vehicle. To take bookings for a PH Vehicle, you need to have, or to be, an Operator.

A duel badge means that you can drive either vehicle. If you are just driving a hackney then there are no requirements to keep details of your bookings. Although if I were you i would keep details of any job that you take over the phone in case of a dispute later.

A duel badge means you have the right to fight surely? A dual badge means you can drive p/h or hack! .

That is correct, but you do not need to record bookings when driving the Hackney Vehicle in your own Manor. You do need to record (or have an Operator who does) when driving the Private Hire.

I missed the Duel/Dual, but in this you are correct Roythebus.
