I have recently been made aware of a large London operator sub contracting to a firm in Cheshire.

In the TfL regs it states;

An operator can sub-contract to another operator if:

a) the other operator is also the holder of a London PHV operator’s licence ;
b) or, the sub-contractor is licensed under the Local Government Act 1976 and or
the sub-contracted booking is accepted in that region;
c) or, the other operator accepts the sub-contracted booking in Scotland.

I know A & C don't apply.

As regards to B, the operator is in Cheshire, they have an operators licence in Northumberland (but no vehicles licenced) and the work is coming out of Manchester Airport.

Looks illegal to me. Does it to anybody else?

Also is this something TfL would be bothered about or are they like the Local Licensing bods and can't be arsed getting involved.

Don't really follow about Hack Plate?

But the company in Cheshire are an "executive" chauffeur company

It's a mess, but the mess will be sorted by the new cab act, alas not to the liking of most of the drivers in the country.

Cos the mess is going to be legalised. :sad:

If the vehicles where/are hackneys then there is nothing illgal about it now.

No, They are not licensed! It is the company that do the Emirates work from Manchester Airport. They also do the Emirates work from Birmingham Airport. One of my mates who is licensed by South Derbyshire does some work for this company through yet another 3rd party. He talks to the drivers when he is working with them and they are not licensed and nor are their vehicles.

The BHX "Emirates" cars are from a pukka firm in Knowle i thought
