Post subject:  What Kinds Of Insurances Policies Exist For Private Hire

I have been battling with work load for the past 6 months. Now I have 2 more drivers joining next week. I have to redo my dispatch/booking system to make it easy for sharing info/journeys and other info. So I need all the time I can get now that I can have some relief.

Meanwhile, I have been looking for insurance for this young fellas. For 3 MPV's all owned by operator & licensed for any of the drivers to drive OR maybe just each driver assigned a particular car. I was wondering if any of you good people can help with tips on this.

What are the kind of insurance do you know are in use in PH?

I know of Fleet Insurance, Commercial car insurance and not sure about how Group Insurance works.

Thanks.

I think every type of insurance is available, but I suspect like us all you want the cheapest.

Not sure if a fleet policy will be cheapest for three cars, it might be cheaper to have named drivers on certain cars.

However the youth will be expensive, so maybe it might be best to limit him to just one motor.

Alternatively have a policy that allows any driver to drive any motor. Might be a bit more expensive with the youth, but the flexibility is a bonus.

Give Westminster a ring, as generally they are quite competitive in these situations.

What kind?

The expensive kind, and Private Hire costs more than Public hire (Hackney/Taxi)

What do you mean by "all"?
I was looking for examples of policies that can be used for PH or Taxi.

Nope it can't, when I was looking for fleet policy the average price started at £3,000 per vehicle but decreased over 3 years to around £900 if there where little or no accidents.

My fleet policy covers both public and private hire. I pay the same premium for each vehicle in the fleet which includes 4,6,8 and 16 passenger vehicles. Last year the renewal was just over £1,000 per vehicle.

Why would you given Public is cheaper than Private

Though of course a hackney vehicle can take pre-booked jobs making it a private hire vehicle sometimes....ish

My policy simply states "the carriage of passengers for hire and reward". About £900 a year fully comp with a 13 plate car.

I'm sure mine does as well. No mention of public or private.

I actually got a nice quote from Westminster. For a moment I smiled.
