Post subject:  Claim??

A passenger got out of my taxi into the main road side and was hit by a passing car and now the car owner is claiming damages as he said I should not let passengers get out on the main road side.Can I do any thing??

Pass the details to your insurance and let them deal with it. That is why you pay the premium. I would say that in no circumstances should you, yourself, get involved with ANY discussions with the 3rd party about this.

You cannot control the actions of others, so I'm not sure you can be made liable.

However it will be down to your insurance company to decide if your insurance covers your punters actions.

If the Vehicle Manufacturer put doors on both sides of a vehicle then I guess that the intention was that the people on board could exit through anyone they chose to use...you never put the door there, go tell them to sue your cars maker.

If it were so dangerous then no car would be allowed an offside rear door.

it might be an offside door but not when the cars on the other side of the road....

what i meant was, the OFFSIDE and NEARSIDE labels dont count when the cars the other side of the road...facing the wrong way
