I live on a 4 way county border, call it A, B, C and er.....D

I am licensed by A, my main town is in B, C allows older cars as hackney's and is cheaper for fees

I work in a "A" town

I can have a "C" hack plate and badge and rent a PDA off a "A" based hackney firm...

So a HACK plated driver+vehicle can, in effect, work anywhere taking work off another hack base (like a floating PH)

not SADLY if A wants 3 year old cars and charges £300 for a plate but B allows 6 year old cars and charges £100 a year

ive seen a nice Rover 75 with the BMW diesel engine....

Councils should all have the same vehicle requirements and fees....

yes, sadly, because its obvious the driver that goes to B is doing so to avoid local regulations which are brought in by democratically elected councillors

it may also because B has a less stringent policy towards convictions than A

or that B doesn't have a locality test

or that B doesn't mind drivers that cant speak English

be careful what you wish for.

Well that council are in for a shock as they will soon be handing years worth of sex shop licensing fees back to the owners.
