Post subject:  DBS question

Ive been offered some work in another council area not the one I work in I have the old CRB valid in my area till july

If I process a DBS check in the other area and register for update can I use this this cert in my area when my CRB expires or will I have to go through the Process again

Im a Hackney doing school private hire work in the other area

Yes, that's the benefit of this system.

Some councils don't like it cos it's different, but once registered all you need do is authorise the checking authority, whoever that may be, and leave it at that.

Oh and ensure you pay the yearly amount.

Thats how it SHOULD work, dont assume any LA has anything like an idea of how it works though....


Every LA licence fee includes the DBS cost, they can reduce the fee if you dont need one for any application....cant they...

our fees don't include the DBS

every thread, every post just highlights the intolerable differences between councils, minor and petty individually but add them up and the case for one set of NATIONAL guidelines gets stronger daily


a badge should cost £50 a year (5 year medicals at doctors you pay for)
no discount for early applications
DBS at cost, only 1 ever needed, update service acceptable
cars 1st plate max 6 years old, after 10 years 2 tests a year (only ever 1 annual plate though)
plate fee £100/year inc mot, 1st retest free then same as MOT test

would any of these be a step back for you?

if councils want to opt out let VOSA handle it

Ive just paid £65 for a 1 vehicle Private Hire ops licence

an A4 sheet of paper

(i dont doubt others pay more)



a hack here pays £35 for a meter check, at most 30 minutes work (ha!) for a LO


are we mugs?
