Post subject:  When is a Taxi Driver a Taxi Driver?
Like the above, when a driver is going about his or her personal business on his or her day off does he or her come under the control of the Council?

On the face of it, as a taxi is always a taxi, the LA/LO can approach you anytime he/she sees the car...

technically if your driving a taxi you are always a taxi driver i suppose

I would think that the answer is in the fact that your car/cab is a work place, as such it would come under legislation as in i.e an office. I guess on that basis then it could be checked at anytime, as to whether you are taxi driving.....then it would possibly be a separate issue.

the question is how does the council know its your day off?

they only know your driving a taxi = taxi driver

Definition of a Taxidriver. A person who has to be beyond reproach at all times.....and is paid very little money for the privilege.

If it's your main job then your always a Taxi Driver, It's just that your Either an on Duty Taxi Driver or an Off duty Taxi driver, but for all points and purposes and for a job description your a Taxi driver.

Much the same as a bus driver; if you're driving a bus you're a bus driver, empty,loaded, road test...need the lcv entitlement.

Driving a taxi/ph? you need the taxi/ph licence. It's always a taxi/ph until its withdrawn from service, i.e. de-licenced as a taxi/ph/bus.
