I don't agree, I've seen these 'ethnic' drives come and go before, the Police have been trying to acheive this 'reflection on society' for many years and still, even with perceived lowereing of standards, fall way below what the left wing, been bag owning tossers would like them to have acheived.

We now find ourselves in the position where you speak to a Police officer, firstly you have to look down at him / her as they are about 5'00" , and then they answer back in bad English, as their first language is gurdishstan!!

Bottom line is, many of these would be ethnic recruits to the Met or the Taxi trade are not interested in doing the training, and no campaign, however large is going to change that.

The bosses of the Taxi circuits support it?

I think some have critisised the time it takes on the knowledge, and some large fleet rental owners (London Motor Cab Proprieters Association) have commented on the above as well, but then they always have because they are greedy,but I think all agree the reputation of the London Taxi trade is world reknown and all efforts should be made to preserve that.

The main people to benefit of course would be our good friends LTI vehicles.
I wonder if some of their new found profit is behind this new campaign?

The 25'000 existing members willl fight hard against any watering down of the Knowledge, we have done it before over the 'computerise it' nonsense, and will do it again over any 'have a badge if your an immigrant' attempt.

Well two little updates on this one, firstly Red Ken was on Eddie Nestars show last night on BBC London, and surpise surprise was inundated with calls about the above from Taxi drivers.

Ken ASSURES us, that this is not a watering down of the Knowledge, but mearly an attempt to recruit a more diverse workforce, my views of that succeding are detailed above.

Then as I was plying my way around London tonight, I was watching my 'Taxee boss?' friends driving around (like arses) in their weird and wonderful collection of cars, and I started to notice there was'nt a white face amoungst them, nearly all African and Asian males.

So I'm writing to Ken by E-mail to see if he would consider a campaign to recruit more white males and females into the Minicab trade to make it more reflective of our capital.

If I get a reply, and i'm not holding my breath, i'll post it on this thread.

I took a guy from Oxford to Reading, charged him £50. He told me he could get a "minicab" from London to Reading for £70, bargain I told him, then I pointed out the dangers of his actions, he soon understood.

Dont you have any enforcement in the big smoke?

Surely that would be a max of an hour each way, so what's the problem?

As for the dangers of minicabs, I suggest you do a google search, cos some of your lot aint much better.

What I can tell you for a fact, every single tout I see is from a visible ethnic minority background, so work that one out.

It would be great in this PC world if I could say the touts were 50% white, 30% Black, and 20% Asian, but their not, every single tout I see is either African or Asian, and judging by the accents, not from England, Scotland or Wales.

We would all like more enforcement wherever we work, but the reality is Touting is hardly a priority in times where people are having their limbs blown off by radical muslims on the tube system.

I cannot see the situation changing much in the near future, unless the 140 sexual attacks per year that are carried out by the touts go up.
