on that shaded bit next to the mirror, MOT regs, your not allowed to have anything on the bottom of the window that can block your view, every time I take mine for a test my note pad holder has to be removed from the window, my badge is blue tacked to that shaded area next to the mirror so its ok

its where the passenger sunshade blocks the sun....

from council...

Quote:
Thank you for taking the time to contact the department regarding the new dashboard badge.
The dash board identification badge was introduced to enable customers to identify a driver. It was agreed at full council that the second dashboard badge would be a larger version of the personal badge. I would like to draw your attention to the Combined Hackney Carriage & Private Hire Conditions of licence with regards to the dash board badge:

8.1.10 A driver shall at all times when acting as a Combined Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Driver, display their dashboard licence on the vehicle dashboard using the Council supplied mount. It shall be in a position as to be plainly and distinctly visible to the hirer(s), however, it not being within your line of vision.

We have discussed the dash board badge and its position with Staffordshire Road Safety Partnership who advised it was ultimately the responsibility of the driver to ensure the dash board badge does not restrict his/her line of vision, similar to a sat nav.

Regards

how will rear seat passengers see it?

in E7's (with bulkhead) it may as well be in the glovebox

The clue is in the words dashboard mounted. He can't put it on the glass.

If placed on the shaded bit next to the mirror it can be seen by everyone in the cab , or just blue tack it down on the top of the dash flat bit,, if anyone askes just say placing it on the dash restricts your vision of the controls, as far as I see it as long as it can be seen that's all that's required

Which bit of the council condition that it MUST be placed on the dashboard do you not understand?

Come on then clever clogs, you cannot put it on top as its restricts or could restrict your view, also against the law, you cannot have it dangling off the dash as there is hardly anywhere to place it without restricting your view to the controls.
Why the Muppets issued something that size is beyond belief, that's why the shaded area to the left of the drivers mirror is the best place for it.
Wanna , would be better going to the council and asking them to come and place it, if they put it on the top of the dash it could reflect off the screen, every time they try and place it he can say no

That may well be the case but that would be in breach of the conditions. Now clearly the condition is not fit for purpose but unless the Council see the error of their ways and change the condition then the only way to avoid the wrath of the Council is by a judicial review costing many thousands.

I bet you do everything by the book as well, as long as it can be seen by all in the car who give a sheit where its placed, as long as it does not restrict the view of the road by a driver. the screen is actually attached to the dash is it not
