As far as I can see these new regs are just an addition to seat belt laws. And our exemption remains. |

Leicestershire County Council insist that booster seats are used on some contracts. They do not pay for these so I can see they will have some problems come the end of the year. |

Surely when bidding for a contract that states booster seats have to be provided, you factor in the purchase price into your bid? |

Of course the sane operator would do this but would you include the cost over the first month or the length of the contracvt bearing in mind that the contract can be cancelled with 2 weeks notice and on some contracts it can be 6 or even 8 seats. |

But that's a contractual issue, in the same way they could stipulate that cars must be yellow with pink spots. |

That is why I say they will have problems come the end of the year when contractors will have to replace the booster seats that they have already shelled out for and replace them with full seats. I for one will not continue with this type of work because where am I going to keep the seats between the morning and afternoon runs? I have 2 jobs that require 6 seats on each vehicle. |

You cant expect to Stick Kids Over say 1.0M but under 1.35M in full seats as they are just to big, Babies and Toddlers yes, bigger kids no. Anyways, I read this bit at the end of an article..."Parents who have a booster seat now will still be able to use the seat without breaking any rules." Maybe there will be a similar rule for Taxis and PHs |

But if it is part of a school contract you either do what is required or don't do the contract. |

Quote: There are no rules for taxis or PH because we are exempt. But if it is part of a school contract you either do what is required or don't do the contract. Well, as I see it no rules apply unless you replace seat booster, only if you rush out and buy new Seats will the new laws apply as to them being full backed seats...there is no obligation to renew anything or everything at this stage, as for the council, well, one way or another will be paying for it either through the purchasing of seats to loan to suppliers, reimbursing the cost to suppliers or by having the extra costs factored in to existing contracts or by higher higher tenders for future contracts....and with seats costing between £50 and £300 pounds they wont be relishing the thought of the extra costs involved. |

Anyone purchasing booster seats be careful as a lot of the seats available do not meet safety requirements. |
