We picked up our brand new vehicle on Friday. On Monday morning the meter was fittesd and the V% arrived. Monday afternoon the Council inspection was passed and the paperwork and fee taken to the Council offices and handed in. Today we check if the paperwork is all in order because today is the first day of the week that the compliance officer works. We are told that the paperwork is all in order but they have no idea when the plates will be made because there is no one in who can make them. So we have a £27,000 car sitting here waiting for god knows how long before we can use it. I have spoken with the leader of the Council (she is also my ward Councillor) and expressed my opinion that the licensing department is not fit for purpose. |

What number license is it,paint it on the back of the vehicle as the ACT states,do you have the paper license,is it a replacement vehicle or a new issue,if replacement claim loss of earnings as you know what the average per day for the vehicle is. If you employ someone to drive that vehicle or rent you are responsible to compensate that person for loss of earnings, again claim it off the Council. |

The Council have made cutbacks to the department to the point that it can no longer function. I am thinking of putting in a tender to see if the council will subcontract the taxi licensing function. |

What's the matter with using the plates that came off the old one,. If councils stopped issuing new plates every year it would help, some I believe even date stamp them. I have had the same plates for 20 years, just swapped them to the new vehicles, even though now they are vinyl to save drilling holes and weakening the bumpers |

Twenty odd years ago we realised in Sefton that cock-ups can happen, so at committee meetings between the trade and council we/you look at what these can be, and put in place policy to cover said cock-ups, or situation that may arise. As for what you have at the moment, our answer is/was to have a number of temporary plates already made up and sitting on the shelf - T1, T2, T3 etc. In your case it would be issued to you now and reclaimed when your proper plate was issued to you. Simple really. |

They pay enough, so not advisable to offer to pay more in fees, I don't think I would want you representing me at meetings, more fees what you thinking of, give your head a shake. |
