A guy round here has put a brand new Ford Connect on from Cab Direct, it's been on for about 8 days. Yesterday he got a phone call from the Council saying that it doesn't meet specs. A lad was denied one a few weeks ago so he's thrown his dummy out of the pram and gone to the Council belly aching. The Council phoned the guy up who's put the Connect on and told him he's got two weeks to take it off. He's phoned Cab Direct who have a list of all Council specs in the UK, Cab Direct have basically told him to do one and they won't take it back. Everyone has had a new letter explaining new regulations and these Ford Connects are on the list at 1.4cc, the one the lad bought was a 1.5cc. Is it worth appealing? |

I would say that the Council are being unreasonable in that they have already plated the vehicle. What do they expect the chap to do with it now? |

The ombudsman will not look at it until the councils own complaints process has been exhausted. They will then consider if they have the resources available to investigate the complaint. |

They will have to issue a formal section 58 notice, no notice no return plate. |

Only in the numpty world of taxi licensing officialdom could a smaller/lesser emission car be an issue that stops that car being licensed. Let's all have 5 litre engines, that will make our lungs so much better. |
