"An operator nor driver may request or demand a fare higher than that shown on the meter"

So im all bagged up ready to bank, did a job £4 on the meter she gave me a £20 note

I gave her a £1 coin and a 10 x 50p's .....and £10 in 20p's...........

She said she didnt want coinage, i said it was all i had...

If it was truly all you had, I would have sat in your car and counted every single coin. probably 2 or 3 times because I had lost count.

I was told some time ago, by a barrister no less, ( or was he a barista? ) anyway, he told me that there is no obligation for any merchant to give change at all, that the onus is on the customer to offer the correct money. We all give change as a courtesy.

Maybe that is where the little heard phrase, "keep the change" originated.

Should have kept it until you had enough change then she has to come and find you for her change.

What sort of genius starts work with £10 quid in yer bin in 20p pieces ...........................only the resident CRETIN could do it #-o

I think I know what happened. All those years ago when Terry's mum was in labour, the midwife told her to push but she got it wrong and clenched. :wink:
