Caught doing 65 in a 40, it was a dual carriageway speed there was previously 60 up until a few years back, around 11pm completely empty, pulled by officer with a laser at the bottom gave me a nip not heard anything as of yet happened on the 25th of nov.

Currently have 0 points and cannot afford to lose my badge what's likely to happen as I've been told you need to inform the council if you get any points, I'm quite worried as I've got 2 dependants and my wife is a carer we would really struggle without my badge..

Done nothing but worry since, cheers in advance

typical police nothing better to do mind you should know better too #-o anyway dont worry until it arrives as it might not! do not see you getting more than 3 points though others might have greater knowledge on the possibilities.

No doubt you are not a Union member? they would of course assist and advise if you were consider it in future.

wish you luck for sure your badge is not at risk given your impeccable current record :D :D

If the officer did not issue anything at the time I doubt that you will get anything.

Not sure any of us are angels.

If you go to court, or plea to a summons, it's 4-6 points. If that happens come back on this thread and maybe someone will advise you what to write.

If you get an offer of a fixed penalty then take it, as it's 3 points, or a naughty boy's course with no points.

When, or if, you get the points you must inform the council. I very much doubt you will get your license suspended for a period, but you must tell them.

If they want to put you before the licensing committee for a telling off, then so be it. Once gain if that happens come back here for some advice.

Don't have sleepless nights over this.

NIP's over a certain speed limit go to court. You'll get a court date to attend Court. Tell them your a Cabbie and you need your licence for work and money. Three points won't hurt you or your badge, inform the Council as and when.

Don't forget that this chap was stopped by the officer and because he was stopped he should have been issued with the NIP on the spot. One other thing, Do the hand held radar guns work at night? I have never seen the police out using them after dark.

the officer would have told him he was being reported, read him his rights and let him continue, he will receive a summons shortly

Do they not normally give you a producer as they could prosecute for additional offences to the speeding offence?

A few years ago I was stopped by the police with a roadside hairdryer. I was given the NIP on the spot. Are you sure that they would "read you your rights?" I thought that they did this if you are under arrest.

Don't think they give those anymore as licence/mot/insurance details are all on their computer

Unfortunately if they have given you a nip it is then passed to CPS to decide when or if to prosecute but there is a time limit I believe within which they have to write to you so if you haven't heard might be a good thing

I think that the registered keeper has to get the NIP within 14 days.

I thought it was longer than that 21 or 28 days
