At age 6 years old a plated vehicle has to have 3 tests a year and a new plate each time but at 5 years and 11 months it can have a 1st plate for a year?

Good morning

A vehicle must be less than 6 years old to get its first Plate. It could in theory be 5 years and 11 months old. It will then be plated for 1 year.

Following years it will be subjected to the Exceptional conditions checks. The first renewal for 4 months carries the annual fee – the vehicle is given a visual check at the council and the mileage recorded and the service history book is copied and scanned to the vehicle file, a compliance check is also made at the test centre. 4 months on a further visual checks, mileage recording, service history book scanning and Compliance Test apply – this carries a £75.00 fee. The same process applies 4 months on. The £5.00 M.O.T. at the test centre applies at any stage through the year.

What he's saying is, it will be subjected to the Exceptional conditions checks within 4 weeks of it being plated. It's a tight arse way of getting a car for a Taxi. They do it round here and no doubt in other areas.

I used to do this until my son joined the company and decided to start buying new cars.

and then...

"Special Events" plates have no age limit.... all age requirements are suspended.

Just need to tell council what customers and plans you have...
