I was wondering what the views of the P/H trade are on the compulsary carrying of utility dogs such as blind dogs in their vehicles? Best wishes John Davies. Manchester |

From my point of view I could never understand why PH weren't put in the original act.
But as those that need to be exempted, are allowed to be exempted, I can see no problem. In fact many (if not all) of the deaf and blind dogs, are better behaved than most punters.

Do you think many P/H drivers are aware of that? Best wishes John Davies. Manchester |

Best wishes John Davies. Manchester I would suspect less than 5% of the UK's PH trade know about it.
But what's new there? |

And I would doubt that 5% would actually refuse to carry a guide dog. Does anyone know any company that wouldn't? |

Are you sure it is the law for P/H vehicles? I was under the impression the Law came into force on the 31st of March but then again, I'm probably wrong. Best wishes. John Davies. Manchester |

Well, I still pick up the Ex nearly every morning, so clearly I do not discriminate against dogs. |

Manchester no John you are right they follow the high standards hitherto followed by taxis outside Durham but in our area most private hire drivers hate dogs and either refuse to carry them or put a stiff charge on this is mainly a fear of rabies. or rabid dogs they are not aware that this country has been rabies free for years |

Thats because most of the PH drivers in your area are not from this Country, thus judge dogs based on their personal experience. |

Up here in bonnie scotland, our local authority insists that driver HC/PH,carries the Blind person,s dog in the cabs. You can get out of this if you are allergic to dogs. |
