We've been notified that city of Lincoln council will be going cashless from April the third.

No cash, no cheques, just credit or debit cards. This is for all transactions within city hall, not just licensing.

Personally, this does not bother me, but, does everyone have plastic nowadays?

There must be an awful lot of people out there that don't.

But is it legal to refuse a cash payment?

When will the day come when taxi drivers go "cashless?"

(Apart from the muppets who work for TDA*)

Of course it is legal to have cashless policies.

We get a bill through the post and pay it online.

It helps out some of the lads who have spent a few quid getting their cars through testing, in that they can wait a month or so before they pay their licensing fees.

our council normally offers an option to pay at a local shop in the paypoint scheme just not at a council office

When licence is due we have to pay by cheque at the licensing office.
You CAN'T pay cash,
You CAN'T pay by card,
You CAN'T pay online.
The license holder has to be present and the cheque must be in their name.

You can book a pit test online though, but not until AFTER you've been to licensing and paid and shown relevant documents (and while youre there you might as well book the test at the same time) !! #-o
Welcome to the 21st century =D>
