All drivers in Melton Have to pay for and attend a 3 hour training course in CSE.
Here is the training provided by Rutland. You read it and they will ask you questions about it.

Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE)
As a driver of a taxi or private hire vehicle you may well have responsibility for transporting a child who is vulnerable. You have a duty of care to look after that child and you also need to protect yourself from any allegations the child could make.


What is Sexual Exploitation?
Sometimes young people receive something in return for engaging in sexual activities.

Offenders have power over victims due to their age, gender, intellect, physical strength and/or economic or other resources.

Violence, coercion and intimidation are common.

Signs of child sexual exploitation within your vehicle could range from young people having older ‘boyfriends’, dressing or acting older than their age, being given alcohol, drugs, jewellery, money and gadgets. You may transport them to bars or hotels with older persons.


To protect yourself:
Do • Remain professional at all times • Sit children in the rear of the vehicle where possible • Only have physical contact when appropriate and required • Report any concerns, changes in behaviour etc., it could be an important part of the bigger picture • Ask for advice – do not try and deal with concerns yourself Never • Become overfriendly or engage in any form of a relationship • Give your private telephone number to children • Have social contact with children outside of work (including social media sites) • Give gifts, sweets, money etc • Photograph or video passengers in your care • Allow children to use your mobile phone or show them material on your mobile phone • Stop anywhere other than specified pick up/drop off points
You may have: • Concerns about locations/venues you drop young people off or pick up at. • Concerns about adults paying for young peoples’ taxi fares. • Concerns about young person’s conversation in your vehicle.


What should I do if I spot signs of CSE? Police Call 101 for non-emergencies and quote Operation Makesafe or ask for the Child Sexual Exploitation team. Call 999 if you are concerned that a child is in immediate danger.

Had 1 for drivers badge...FOC

Eventually got that accepted by county for the schools contractors badge


But personally i reckon its cobblers

"Jimmy Saville, Ian Huntley, Gary Glitter"............ all well known taxi drivers


Half of all taxi drivers work nights and never see kids

and i bet there will be NO reported incidents from taxi drivers.... unless the driver fancies a visit from the parents/family

county emailed us all INSTRUCTING us that behaviour ate the CSE was unacceptable cos some had said they (the drivers) aint social workers

quite ironic that the largest number of recent reported sex offences on young children havent been taxi -related

Didn't they have one the other week?

We have had quite a few so that all drivers should now have attended. We are told that those that haven't attended will have their licenses revoked on June 1st.

So they only did the one date then? Ours are still running the course for those who haven't done the test, they have until December 2017 to take the test.

Which bit about "we have had quite a few" leads you to conclude that there was only one date?
My concern now is that any new drivers will either have to pay through the nose to take this mickey Mouse course because it is unlikely that there will ever be enough new drivers in a 12 month period to make the course cheap enough or the policy will just get ignored the same as the disability awareness training that drivers are supposed to complete within 12 months of receiving their badge. The last one of these was well over 2 years ago.
I just can't understand the fact that there is a policy in place without much thought into how they can implement the policy.

Our Council have been doing ours since April of last year until December of this year. It gives enough time for all drivers to take the course at their leisure.

You can thank the peado drivers in rotherham and rochdale and oxford etc. For this.

What about the police and council can't we thank them to for letting it happen? I wonder how many of them have done the course?

Indeed the PC brigade are almost as guilty as the scum that committed the offences.

I still fail to see what difference the training makes it isn't going to stop someone intent on grooming vulnerable adults or children. It is merely going to make them more careful as they will have effectively been trained in how not to give out the signals
