Your Council must not believe in public safety if they issue a license without ensuring the vehicle is fit for purpose as a licensed TAXI.

Micky mouse Councillors and Officials who obviously do not know what they are doing.

Residents and visitors should be extremely worried about what is lacking in your Council District.

I'm guessing you have never licensed a brand new car, and you think it makes sense to have a taxi test on a vehicle that hasn't done any miles nor had anyone sit in the back of it?

And residents and visitors should be extremely worried about that? ](*,)

There have been 2 instances where members of our Association had vehicles direct from the showroom fail the TAXI test for 1st licensing.

For vehicle safety matters enough for 'Residents and visitors should be extremely worried about what is lacking in your Council District'?

New cars out of the showroom do not need to have a taxi test. If anyone has any doubt then why on earth would you contemplate buying it?

Your council just took your fees and handed a plate over?...

I would have been right miffed to pay for a taxi test on a vehicle that has single figured mileage.

Taxi from 1st registration requires a M.O.T. annually, private hire vehicle requires a M.O.T. after its 3 years old after 1st registration and annually there after.

That is the LAW and Councils can test your vehicle up to 3 times per year to see if it is compliant.

Ours have never asked for an MOT until it is 3 years old. We do have to have the Council inspection from 1st registration.

we have never had to have a separate MOT; just the compliance test which counts the same for the purposes of road tax etc. the compliance test covers everything in an MOT and more and is carried out by an MOT testing station

And I remember a driver buying a brand new nissan to plate as a taxi it failed dismally on it's compliance test and had to have extensive remedial work carried out. Just because it's got very few miles on the clock does not mean it has no faults vehicles do leave the factory with defective parts

Have a look at the M.O.T. fee table ,it clearly states that a TAXI has to have an M.O.T. test when it is 1 year old, private hire vehicle when it is 3 years old.

Pointless having a look at something that we don't need.

But for some people a Mars Bar is the equivalent of a Snickers.

But they are not the same.

why bother with a compliance-cum-MOT which isnt an MOT, surely the DVLA database has to have it as a pass or every ANPR camera will ping you up
