No, there is no requirement. Unless there are certain circumstances the license is for 3 years. |

Which part of the act allows for anything other than 3 year licenses except in certain circumstances? |

The deregulation Act allows the Council to issue a drivers license at its discretion for 3 years or a lesser period depending on the circumstances of the case. |

Wish we could get a 3 year licence, , but the council will only issue for 1 year and at £88 |

That is not how the act is written. However, if you are saying that a council must issue a badge of a shorter duration than 3 years, then the council would be entitled to charge the full 3 year rate because the time taken to process the application is the same whether it is a one year badge or a three year badge. |
