Please have a look at the Road Safety Act 2006 letter posted on here ,it clearly states that a wedding or funeral car must only be used for weddings or funeral to remain free from licensing.

Of course it does.
That means no S.D.P. use at all.
mmmmm, if thats the exact wording do they need licensing when not in use, surely they are only H&R when loaded or booked, so they cant be driven to the car wash or taken home at night?

Now you have gone and ruined it by pointing out that he is not quoting the actual law.

So if im doing a wedding in my white Rolls Royce with the bride in the back i dont need a plate/badge and if im driving to the Co-op the next day its not a wedding car anyway....................

So, those using the "wedding car" for the hen/stag night need to be licenced; taking the happy couple from the church to reception and back to the hotel or airport after the reception don't need a licence. Maybe extend that to the airport the next day, but that's debateable.

But, using the fleet of wedding cars/novelty vehicles for prom nights/night club runs/birthday parties/anniversaries, you need a licence. In the bus industry the Traffic Commissioners when they grant new O licences usually add the condition "providing no novelty vehicles or stretch limousines are operated" to the licence conditions. The wedding car exemption only applies to vehicles with 8 or less passenger seats. Anything over 8 seats used for hire and reward/fiscal activity needs to be a licenced public service vehicle (part III Road Traffic Act 1960) and (Transport Act 1980). So these "ancient laws" also blow the section 19 minibus argument out of the water! Gets complicated?

chap here offers...

16 year old jag...."from" £150

6 seater OMEGA....."from" £225

as opposed to our base who took a wedding booking for a HACK Eclass saloon (white), so he took all his signs/plate/rooflight off, cleaned it inside and out, put ribbons on it, lost 2 hours hack/rank work THEN asked what he was getting

base said £30

So he broke the law by removing the plates and topsign?
