The Inclusive Transport Strategy: achieving equal access for disabled people

The Department for Transport’s strategy to create an inclusive transport system for disabled travellers.

Our strategy sets out:

i) government’s actions for achieving equal access to transport for disabled people
ii) a clear programme of monitoring and evaluation
iii) a new governance framework for accountability

4.20 This Strategy should help ensure that authorities not only use the powers available to
them to ensure that taxi and PHV services not only comply with the legal
requirements but that these services meet the needs of passengers more
consistently.


That means nothing as they already do and there's nothing in the law that says PHV's have to be WAV..thats is a very vague paragraph with no substance, it just appear to mean whatever an individual would like it to mean.

How the hell can that work, We can't drive upstairs or take taxis in lifts or even get to within a half a mile from certain shops.

Yes it's a grand soundbite but without any real or practical thought having gone into it..
