Budget Announcement – National Minimum Wage Rates 1st April 2019.

One of the announcements in yesterday’s Budget was that the national minimum wage will increase on 1st April 2019 as detailed below:

Further information can also be found at https://www.gov.uk/national-minimum-wage-rates

It is important when bidding for contract routes that you take into account the requirement to pay the increased minimum wage from 1st April 2019. We will be unable to consider any request for a price change in respect of the increased minimum wage rate, on any contract issued after yesterday’s announcement. Minimum wage increases are not an unforeseen cost increase, as the Government have announced in previous Budgets the intention to increase the minimum wage each year until at least 2020 and we have previously alerted Contractors to this fact.

Many thanks,
