Post subject:  Is the DBS fit for purpose?

The wifes mate applied to Tesco for a job and got it

23 years ago she wanted her son to have his dads surname but they were not married so "adopted" the dads/partners surname to use

they later got married

she has been a childminder for 10 years via social services and DBS and has a passport

Tesco have withdrawn the job offer as there was a difference in her previous names ... the DBS makes no mention of this

How many slip through the net?

Best is she wprked for Tesco for 3 years some time back!

Why does she need a DBS to work for Tesco's?

What one on one contact is she going to have with children or vulnerable adults?

1. - Tescos didnt require the DBS, social services did for her child minding work

2. - Tesco "may" have asked for a DBS but the problem stemmed back to the name issue on the marriage certificate

But how come the DBS didnt pick up her real name?....
