We have overturned the Euro6 - deferred to April 2022 BUT.............is this within the remit of licensing here?

Quote:
This takes account of the introduction of the clean air zone in Birmingham, Derby (from January 2020) and other cities across the country.

The policy has also been amended to make clear that in the interim period, if a vehicle incurs a clean air zone charge this should not be passed onto the customer.

Ask them what powers in what act allows them to set fares outside of their licensing area.

So if the fares £10 and you enter a clean air zone where the charge is say £20 the drivers a tenner out of pocket ?

ALL (unavoidable) charges should be added to the fare, clean air zones, congestion charges, airport parking etc.

I would recommend that everyone demands their licensing authority puts all tolls and charges on the tariff table payable by the hirer.

We have had it on ours for years and when I applied for it to be included there was not one member of the Committee against it.

Suspect the idea is to stop passengers paying extra based on whether or not the vehicle is compliant with the clean air zone criteria.

So unavoidable from the driver's perspective, perhaps, but maybe avoidable if you're a customer at a taxi rank, say.

But whether actually legal to adopt such a condition is another matter.

This is getting messy enough as it is, but the fares aspect is maybe something the powers that be haven't given enough thought to.
