Our LA has just completed a taxi rank survey to see if there is a unmet demand (regulated area )the survey came back
saying there is enough taxis and there is no unmet demand. However at the licensing meeting it was decided that the council
will look at the matter again in 6/12 months time to decide if another survey is required.

Is this usual for an LA to do another survey in such a short space of time especially the cost involved in doing another one?

The money for the survey comes out of the licensing fees asfar as i am aware.

I think you should ask who pays.

It is unusual, but not unlawful.

However the report should indicate when the next survey should take place, and if it says 3 years and the council are saying 6 months, then IMO the survey should be funded out of council funds, not licensing fees.
