No

Not really.

Especially if the fixed fare exceeds the locally set tariff.

Ok thanks.
So how does it work that we do school contracts and other account work which is charged by invoice well above the meter rate

Says this on out Tariff:

Hirings may be undertaken without the use of the meter where there is a prior contract with a public authority or for a period in excess of one hour.

Makes it all easy.

As the Tariff is in effect an annex to the By Laws, it's all legit.

If that work is within your licensing area, then every day of the week you breach licensing laws.

They are in England with the exception of Plymouth.

No hackney is allowed to charge more than the set tariff within the licensing district, be that via the meter or a set price contract.

I deliver drugs. All legit of course, it's on behalf of Pharmacies. When their own employed drivers are on leave, off sick, too busy etc. Takes more than an hour, is all within the Licensing District, they are not a Public Authority. I do not need to use the meter.

I take the disabled, they go into an appointment and then on to another then home. All within the Licensing District, if it's going to take more than an hour, I do not need to use the meter.

I could come up with several more scenarios, but I'm sure you get the idea.
