So today the hack plate renewal form came clearly stating that our new plate on the 2012 car which is 7 years old on 17th september will be full price and expire 17/09/2019 (valid 6 weeks) despite the forms being sent by the same LO who sent this ..Current plate expires 31st August 13th June.. Quote: If you believe the vehicle is of exceptional condition, you must provide along with the application form a report from an independent automobile engineer, indicating the vehicle is in immaculate condition. This report will be available from any reputable garage. Upon receipt of the application, one of the licensing officers will inspect the vehicle and make an assessment. Should the vehicle meet the exception condition standards, the renewal would be granted for 1 year, subject to the vehicle undertaking a 6 monthly compliance check.

Also the vehicle licence (plate) forms now request a "Compliance certificate" be produced BEFORE applying, normally the form for the TAXI TEST is given when paying for the plate (plate not issued unless car passes), this is NOT a "Certificate of Compliance" as we know it... an MOT is not asked for but, it seems, required... Our new LA seems confused.. |

The new LA walked into the post with her all singing all dancing new policy... the trouble is she asked the regulatory committee for permission to propose a new policy for consultation but the request was in no way representative of the actual proposed policy, the draft got so many replies she had to cave in on several points and doesnt seem to know that most of the De-reg act points (on badges/ops licences) implemented have a caveat for requests and most of the rest of the policy has loopholes. the draft had a proposal to have new drivers take a safety driving course but before the end of the consultation the LO had booked the courses with the county council, doing so was illegal, the guy at county clammed up after telling me his unit was already booked... tut tut Without the organised replies we would have needed Euro 6 diesels and CCTV April 1st this year when the policy was only agreed by committee Feb 5th |
