Licensing now want the calibration certificate,

Never had a certificate, but council always checks the meters, and the agent will just readjust the meter if there's a problem.

If your council wanted a calibration certificate in lieu of testing the car, then presumably they made that clear in advance, and before the meter actually recalibrated?

If not, then obviously council at fault here

Our Council have always insisted on a calibration certificate and the meter is tested when the vehicle is inspected.

The measured mile is included in our taxi test. I have never been asked for a calibration certificate

I just hope our council doesn't copy Melton !

Why? What is the problem with getting a calibration certificate? Every time you have your meter reset you ask for the certificate. it doesn't cost anything extra.

Son goes to Pitts (Nottingham) for small meter fix and new calibrate/tarriff pays £40 off he goes Licensing now want the calibration certificate, he wasnt given one (nor when it was fitted, neither have i on several visits) Licensing refuse to do the meter check over the measured mile "no face to face meetings" The £40 was cash/no VAT so no receipt

Ours are all called in for a meter test after any fare rise, and they're all done within a couple of days. So I suppose a calibration certificate is a bit pointless. If it's been calibrated incorrectly then the council won't seal it until it's been adjusted. Obviously a certificate is a different matter if the council doesn't test the cars after a fare rise.

Ours are never checked, council are present when we have a fare increase. But never checked after this.

The tariff went up in January but the LA agreed that so long as the new rates were displayed and we didnt charge more than the new rates we could carry on..

Agreed, but forgetting to issue or request one at the time caused problems Pitts emailed ours over
