My taxi vehicle had its MOT 2nd May 2020 and expired 1sT May 2021, But my Taxi vehicle license was licensed 1st June 2020 and expires 31st May 2021
So currently my MOT is Expired but my Vehicle license is still in date and our MOT is done by our council.
I have sent in a renewal application and my date for my Council test is 27th May.

Anyone can advise what I should do?
Can I still drive or not?

I would think that if the mot has expired you should not drive the vehicle on the road. It is an offence. You may also invalidate your insurance.

Forget the council licensing rules - they're nothing to do with the MoT requirement.

You need a valid MoT, or you're driving illegally.

The rules are easily found online, but as I recall them, you can only drive your car to an actual appointment for an MoT test.

Actually, *don't* forget the council's licensing rules - if you're caught without a valid MoT they might take your taxi licence as well 8-[

As is my vehicle, but the fella is asking a question and it's best to give him the answer that he needs to stay licensed by his council and remain licensed by the DVLA.

Shepway council (now Folkestone Hythe and Romney Marsh) DC have their own testing regime with Certificate of Fitness issued. Cars licenced by them do not require a DVLA style MoT test. The problem comes when you go to sell the car and find the CoF isn't worth the paper it's written on once it stops becoming a hc or ph.

PHTM have done an opinion article on the MOT/Certificate of Compliance issue.

https://content.yudu.com/web/43sy4/0A43 ... gin=reader

Not sure I agree with it all, but that's not uncommon of late with them.
