If i drop to SDP insurance for a while can i retain my plate/vehicle licence?

I suppose you can ask the council to suspend your license temporarily, but otherwise not in my view.

Vehicle must be insured fit for purpose whilst licensed, suspend the vehicle license with council permission is possible but if suspension is for any length of time greater than 28 days it would have to be retested to lift the suspension, Do not forget once vehicle is licensed it is a licensed vehicle until the license is revoked or not renewed

Quite a few drivers here took their vehicles off the road last year and suspended their insurance but they were told that they must stay off the road until re-insured.

I think where wanabee differs from that is he is asking if he can reinsure a vehicle that is temporarily not license as a normal car.

I think in theory it could be possible, but not really sure if it's worth the faffing about.

straight PH insurance £1350.... SDP with option to upgrade back to H&R... £750

here you would have to surrender your plate and reapply once you wanted to license again and only if your car was under 5 years old
