Policy states "after april 1st 2022 all licensed vehicles (diesel) must be Euro 6"

after poking them..

Quote:
A renewal submitted in March 2022 will also get a 12 month plate, however in March 2023 it will need to meet the requirements.
A new vehicle submitted in April 2022 will need to be under 5 years old and meet the Euro 6 requirement. A renewal submitted in April 2022 will need to meet both the age & Euro 6 requirements.

With that age limit the Euro 6 issue is irrelevant.

Think Euro 6 started in late 2015.

Quite correct but i wanted to ask if the "purpose built" vehicles (10 year max age limit) could be plated beyond April 1st 2022, now it seems they "could" be plated till april 1st 2023 assuming a march 31st renewal..as indeed can my 2013 Superb (march 2013) which was too old at 7 years of age

I think some councils take the view that the initial layout for a WAV justifies them being allowed to stay licensed longer, and TBH I sort of agree with that.

However it does make a mockery of emissions issue.

So the policy should say

"From 1st April 2022, vehicle licences will only be issued to euro6 vehicles, either 1st grants or renewals"

It seems that should be the case.

so March 31st 2022 (if due) they will renew the plate on a euro5 for a whole year ... so will be plated till march 31st 2023

how is that in line with the policy of "euro6 from april 1st 2022"?

Any policy that stated 1st grant I'd be wondering what a 1st grant is. The wording needs to be very specific to legally valid.

As for euro 6, are they referring to car euro 6 or commercial vehicle euro6? The two sound the same but are separate regulations and standards.
