My council have a "plate exemption" (basically you have 1 but dont display it and you have no council door signs) They WANT to keep it just for exec vehicles but the regs dont say that, i met a council official who said applicants must provide contracts, emails and contact numbers of existing and potential customers who require cars with no plate or signs sounds a bit intrusive and foul of the data protection act? |

Our Council adopted a policy based on the cost of the vehicle when new. I am not sure what it is now but it used to be £40,000. I tried to explain at the time that the "standard" vehicle used by most executive hire company's was the E class Merc and the only one that was above the £40,000 price was the AMG version. They still adopted the policy. |

I suppose if someone is applying for an exemption then they should give reasons/evidence to justify that exemption. Else it's not really an exemption it's the norm. |
